New Trainee Rates

The Social Security Minister has announced that effective from 1 September 2025 a new trainee rate can apply.

The rates are for new trainees and they must be on an approved training scheme.

Year 1 trainees the minimum rate is £10.50 per hour

Year 2 trainees the minimum rate is £11.75 per hour

Employment, Social Security and Housing have produced a guide for employers and employees which explains 'approved training' and details of the Better Business Support Package that is available to employers taking on apprentices.
