Updates to Legislation

Friday 17 Apr 2026

An amendment to both the Employment and Discrimination legislation sets out an example for the lodging of claims:

... 'Wherever this Law refers to a period of time in days, weeks, months or years, the period expires at the end of the day that completes the number of days, weeks, months or years specified.

Example: the act complained of takes place on Thursday 1 January 2026. The complainant has 8 weeks to make a claim to the Tribunal. The 8-week period begins at the start of Friday 2 January and ends at the end of Thursday 26 February 2026.'

This is a change to previous lodging times where day one was the day the event took place (as opposed to the day after).
