It is vitally important that employers and their people managers understand what an investigation is and how to undertake one.

An investigation will act as the basis of several types of formal process concerning an employee (e.g. disciplinary, capability, grievance etc) and as such, it is vital that a proper and thorough investigation is undertaken. If this is not the case then any subsequent formal action taken could potentially be deemed unfair by a Tribunal.
