Employee help

What JACS does:

Offer free advice to employees on the Employment and Discrimination Legislation (as well as on the Employment Relations Law)

Offer a friendly and approachable service either in person or via telephone/email.

Advice on your rights at work - including help understanding your contract or staff handbook, support with Tribunal claims, and guidance on what the law says about your treatment at work

What JACS doesn't do:

JACS are not the Employment and Discrimination Tribunal, we do not make decisions on the rights and/or wrongs of claims.

As an impartial and independent oganisation, JACS doe not represent people or parties either before or during any tribunal process

Advise on Data Protection, Health and Safety, Social Security or other legislation that falls outside of the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003.

Trade Unions

The Jersey Employment Tribunal also acts as the Registrar of Trade Unions. Unions must be registered in Jersey in  order to seek recognition rights and to receive protection in certain circumstances.
Reference to the UK is made in the Trade Unions FAQs, on occasions, simply to explain how various issues are dealt with elsewhere or to provide examples of good practice.

Know your parental rights at work

Whether you're expecting a child, returning to work or supporting a partner, it's important to understand your rights.

If you're an employee, find out what you're entitled to, including parental leave, pay, time off for appointments and protection from unfair treatment.
