Discrimination
Jersey Law does not specifically deal with discrimination issues at present, although the Startes of Jersey has made clear its intention to bring forward a Law dealing with discrimination in the near future.
JACS already deals with a number of requests from employees and employers in regard to matters of discrimination over a wide range of topics. A number of employers have already introduced non-discriminatory policies in anticipation of future legislation and because they believe that it is proper to do so. In the interests of promoting good practice, general guidance is given below. We have also developed a Model Equal Opportunities Policy for information.
Reference to the UK is made in the information given below, on occasions, simply to explain how various issues are dealt with elsewhere or to provide examples of good practice.
