REDUNDANCY TRAINING MODULE
On April 1st 2009 the States to agreed amendments to the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003 that will introduce specific legislation in respect of redundancy procedure and statutory compensation. The amendments are likely to come into effect during late 2010.
We have already seen a number of tribunal cases that have dealt with redundancy and have a good idea of the expectations of the tribunal in determining whether or not a redundancy was fair.
Because of the number of enquiries we have received since January - 13% of all enquiries have been about redundancy, compared to 5 to 6% in 2008 - we have developed a new training module "Redundancy Procedure and the Law".
The module will be delivered in 3 to 3½ hours and will cover:
-
what constitutes a fair redundancy procedure?
-
consultation and alternative strategies
-
fair selection for redundancy
-
an overview of anticipated redundancy legislation
